Cadmium is a soft white metal used primarily for corrosion prevention. It compares very closely to zinc for some applications. Cadmium produces better coverage and has excellent corrosion resistance in marine environments. Cadmium is fairly conductive, ductile (more so than zinc) and can be soldered (almost as well as tin).

Cadmium is very toxic and should not be used on any part intended for use where direct food contact could occur. Typical thickness of cadmium is .0002-.0008 inches. Hohman Plating offers both rack and barrel plating with and without brighteners. Cadmium will accept chromates.
